They lost dozens of kilograms and went through all the circles of hell of Russian captivity. This is what the liberated Ukrainian soldiers look like.

They were photographed by Vlada and Konstantin Liberov. The photographers emphasize that they took photos only of those Ukrainians released from captivity who agreed to let others see their condition.

On September 13 and 14, two large-scale prisoner exchanges between Ukraine and Russia took place. Ukraine returned more than 150 soldiers, including several civilians.

Most of those released had been in captivity since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022, including Azov soldiers.

Everyone is returning in serious medical condition. All have lost many kilograms, gone through all the circles of hell of Russian captivity, torture,” Ukrainian Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets said on TV.

He added that Russia cynically, deliberately and publicly fails to comply with the Geneva Conventions and “is not ashamed to admit it.”

Just compare the photos – in what condition we hand over Russian prisoners and in what condition we return Ukrainians,” the Ombudsman added.
